After Susan Tedeschi (see previous post) Buddy Guy played a slightly longer set at the PNC Bank Arts Center as part of the opening for BB King.

Unassuming and direct, Buddy’s performance reminded me of the times I have seen Eric Clapton over the years.

I had first seen this amazing Blues musician almost six years prior to shooting this picture.  Susan opened for Bo Didley at Harper’s Ferry in Boston, after playing WERS-FM.

This shot is from the set Susan did opening for BB King at the PNC Bank Arts Center.

This one is special, because I really dig Cameron Crowe.

Crowe was at Q104.3 to promote his new film, Almost Famous, for the national radio show Rockline.

I had seen an early screening and as I was shooting this image, was having my own William Miller moment.  We kept the lights low, because the show started at 11pm east and had an old FM radio vibe.

If you are from Jersey and like good rock and roll, you know the band The Smithereens.

Q104.3 PM host Ken Dashow had been friendly with Smithereens front man, Pat DiNizio since the days when the band was new and Ken was at the original WNEW-FM.

Prior to his run for Senate in New Jersey, DiNizio came up to have an animated chat on the air with Ken.

August 5, 2000 Dave Davies

Dave Davies is/was the lead guitarist for one of the great British Invasion bands, The Kinks.  Unfortunately more famous for feuding with his older brother, Ray, Dave is an under-appreciated guitarist.

In August of 2000, he stopped by the Q104.3 studios and in the days before radio stations had fancy performance spaces, one simply applied two vocal mics to the artist playing and went live.

(Update: an earlier version of this piece had me mixing the brothers up.  Late night writing and all.)
