I know this was sometime around the start of Bob’s morning show, but I can’t place which day Charlie Daniels came in as a guest host.

Yes, yes he did “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” live on the air.

I remember him being a nice guy.

Making both his first appearance here, as well as at Q104.3, Pop Artist Peter Max was the third guest host leading up to the launch of Bob Buchmann’s new morning show.

Max talked about painting a huge mural for the 30th anniversary of Woodstock, the year before and his psychedelic art process.  He also traveled with an entourage that had several posters of his work, which Max would sign,  as you can see in one of these shots.  In the other, Max posed with Q104.3 General Manager Matt Ross and pretended to play a bass guitar.  In the final shot, Producer Shawn Kelly, Peter Max and former Q104.3 DJ Zach Martin.

On the second day of “Q104.3’s revolving guest host a palooza” continued with former NY Jets QB Boomer Esiason quasi started his radio career by doing a day on Q104.3

I had been at Q104.3 for just days shy of two years and we were already getting our third Program Director.

Bob Buchmann had been a fixture on Long Island radio for 17 years and the new management decided to bring him slightly west (Bob would later go farther west, all the way to LA and now is living it up in San Diego).

Bob not only came in as the PD, he was also going to be the new morning guy.

As a stunt to “cleanse the palate” from the legendary Dano Neer, we had a week’s worth of special guest hosts, while Bob and Producer Shawn Kelly took back seats.

The week of stunting started with Styx sitting in and kicking off the new $10,000 Workforce Contest by playing a special version of “Blue Collar Man.”  That recording was one of the first .MP3s posted by a radio station, to the internet.
